Kolkata knightriders lost an exciting match against Rajasthan royal in super over. Earlier Kkr won the toss and elected to bowl first,RR did not make a good start as its first 3 wickets fell early in quick time.Yousuf Pathan played some good strokes and scored 42 of 21ball,total score was 150/6 at the completeion of 20overs.
Ajantha Mendis bowled 4 overs and picked two wickets for just 19 runs.
Ishant Sharma bowled 4overs and picked 2 wickets for36 runs,
A.Singh bowled 4 overs and he too picked 2 wickets for 35 runs.
C.Gayle bowled 4 overs and went wicketless for 20 runs,
Mc Cullum and Chris Gayle took the guard for 2nd innings,Mc Cullum lost his wicket early while he was caught at long off. Chris gayle played some massive strokes and scored 41 of 33ball.He was caught at long off when he was trying to hit over the long off to Sharne Warne.Sourav Ganguly took the charge and played a very important and excellent innings to rescue his team,he lost his wicket just at the door of victory,it was only 2 runs required of 2 ball,Ganguly tried to hit the ball over the square and was caught behind on 48(30ball) .Ishant sharma had to play only 1 ball and 2 runs were needed ,he hit the ball towards cover drive and was excellently fielded by Sharne Warne which led to score only 1 run of it and was run out while looking for 2.
The match was tie. Super over had to decide the winner,Kkr was again put to bat, Mc Cullum and Gayle again came to bat. Ball was handed to Kamran Khan, Gayle scored only 1 run of 1st ball and Mc Cullum came on strike,he too scored a single of a low fulltoss,Gayle was back on strike next ball went wide,Gayle hit 3 consecutive boundaries of next three balls,the last ball he tried to hit over the square but ther was a fielder to take the catch.Target set was 16 runs of 1 over.
Yousuf Pathan was the key batsman and he proved himself by chasing those 16 runs in just 4 ball .He hit (6 2 6 4)of the first 4 balls of Ajanta Mendis.
Yousuf was declared man of the match for his superb innings in super over.
